Pastor John van Eyk’s Biography
After graduating from Redeemer Reformed
Christian College in 1991 with a double major in History and Religion and
Theology, our Pastor took a year off to build houses and begin a home. He began
a home by marrying Lucy Pennings in August of 1992. Then began a three year
honeymoon in Philadelphia
where John studied at Westminster Theological Seminary. Although both John and Lucy grew up in the Free Reformed
Churches of North America in John's
final year their membership was transferred to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church
in Germantown, Philadelphia. John was taken under care and
licensed by the Philadelphia Presbytery of the OPC and was later transferred to
the Northeast Presbytery of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was ordained in July 1995 after being called to be the Mission
Developer of Riverside ARP Church in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
In December of that year their home expanded with the birth of Joshua Charis. Kristiana Grace was born on August 20, 2000,
Micaiah Hesed on April 04, 2003, and Stephen Joram on December 23, 2005.
Until October 2005 John was the President of Cornerstone Bible
Institute, a correspondence Bible course ministry to prisoners. Since 1997 John has been the editor of
Canadian Associates, a magazine of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Churches
in Canada.
John is a member of the Canadian Presbytery of the Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church and is the chairman of the Presbytery’s Outreach Canada
Committee, responsible for establishing new Churches in Canada.
